"The very word 'war', therefore, has become misleading. It would probably be accurate to say that by becoming continuous war has ceased to exist.

SyringeFest 2005 Organising meetings

Organising for the 4th Darwin International Syringe Festival is well underway with the NAP crew hoping for our biggest SyringeFest yet.

It is the drug-using faction of NAP that takes on the primary responsibility for organising the SyringeFest. NAP has many members from a diverse range of backgrounds. Some of them use or have used drugs, others have not. Some of us are pro-drugs, some of us are not. The important point is that none of us are anti-drugs.

We all want to see the drug issue brought out into the open and that is a major focus of our annual SyringeFests.

The SyringeFest is being coordinated by weekly meetings, held on Friday afternoons from 1pm at the Groove cafe in Nightcliff, reporting back to the fortnightly meetings of the Network Against Prohibition, which are also held at the Groove cafe, starting at 7pm. Anyone that supports drug law-reform or human rights is welcome to attend either the weekly SyringeFest meetings and/or the fortnightly NAP meetings

We also hope to have input from people who can't make it to Darwin this year. To do this we will be holding weekly SyringeFest feedback/discussion sessions in NAP's yahoogroup chatroom. Every Friday, at 3pm Australian Central Standard Time (6.30am in London and 2.30am in Brasilia), some of the SyringeFest organisers will log into the chatroom and hopefully we can have discussions about how to involve those that can't make it and to network in general. (Note: You will have to join the yahoogroup to use this service).

If you would like to be involved, call 0406199286 for more info, email the organisers or join our yahoogroup.

Junkie Talent required

The SyringeFest cannot be a success without your support. NAP are calling on junkie (and non-junkie) musicians, bands, artists, actors, performance artists, poets, DJs, painters, writers and philosophers to make contact with the organisers and tell them what you have to offer SyringeFest. We will accomodate you, in the program and in our homes.

We are putting out this call early in the piece to enable you to make travel arrangements to get to the tropical paradise that is Darwin. (Well, paradise if you are white or if you earn over a certain amount.)

The Network Against Prohibition may be able to assist one or two international delegates to attend the SyringeFest. NAP have advised that if they are in a position to assist delegates to get to Darwin, they would prefer to fund someone in our region… if you want to go down this avenue contact NAP now!

Remember, the Syringe Festival is your festival. Spread the word to other art farty junkies who you think may be interested.

Junkie Travellers unite

The NAP crew are behind enemy lines in Darwin and we call on you to  start planning now for an epic journey to this city besieged by the US military machine. September 2005 is not far away and if you wanna make it to this not to be missed event, you will need to start filling your piggy banks now. Never underestimate the fascist Australian immigration department - you will need to book your visas AT LEAST 3 months in advance.

We can assist you with accomodation in Darwin for the SyringeFest if you are hard up or you can click here for some information for travellers to Darwin.

The Network Against Prohibition may be able to assist one or two international delegates to attend the SyringeFest.
