Wife's claim: 'pot smoked in ward'

PATIENTS at Darwin's only mental health facility are smuggling marijuana in to their rooms or are having drug dealers make deliveries to hospital, it was claimed yesterday.

A woman, who wanted only to be known as Cindy, said her husband was admitted last year with drug-induced psychosis.

She said she was disgusted to learn her husband had allegedly continued to smoke marijuana while at Royal Darwin Hospital's Cowdy Ward.

Cindy said she visited him everyday and quickly realised he was taking illegal drugs.

``I could see he was stoned off his head when I went to see him,'' she said.

``They told me it was the medication but he told me he used to spit out his medication.

``I rang the hospital and told them that marijuana was being supplied and they just ignored me.''

But Health Department spokeswoman Michelle Foster said patients were free to come and go based on psychiatric needs.

``The staff are not aware that illegal drugs are being accessed by patients while on the wards,'' she said.

Cindy claimed patients smuggle marijuana into the hospital after day release.

She also claimed visitors, some who are allegedly drug dealers, would bring marijuana into the ward.

``I know they used to catch taxis and see these people and bring it back to the hospital,'' she said.

``They smoke it out in the courtyard as far as I know or they're allowed to walk off, they're allowed to do as they please. I tried to insist they search him every time he comes back in but they refused to do it.''

Cindy said her husband's condition had worsened because of his return to drug use.

She said other people had approached her with the same concern.

``I've even had a nurse agree with me on the phone. She said, `Yes, I know. It is a problem here, it's hard to control'.''

Poor psychotic Cindy should be in Cowdy ward. The poor wretch understands nothing about society and drugs place in it.

Is she saying it is alright to ingest pharmaceutical drugs which are dangerous and lucrative, instead of marijuana that is still demonstrating in objective testing to have little to no side effects if ingested correctly and can also be grown for free?

And who are the drug dealers?

Are Doctors who are making a bit on the side with all the bribes offered them by competing drug dealers, i mean manufacturers?

Yes tuck yourself right in there beside your hubby so as you can embarrass and harass him until you finally make him snap.

Do not blame drugs for your fucked life and relationship. Get angry and tell your pollies that you demand the abolition of prohibition to bring a bit of sanity to our insane world!

Do people care about the DU our Government is putting in the middle east to poison millions of souls? Yet we get angry at weed?

Maybe it is the sane people in Cowdy ward come to think of it.
