Petrol sniffing inquiry to tour regions

Six senators will visit the Northern Territory in late February as part of an inquiry into petrol sniffing in remote Aboriginal communities.

The committee is trying to find solutions to the scourge of petrol sniffing, which has claimed more than 100 lives since 1981.

Senators will visit the manufacturers of non-sniffable fuel in Perth before heading to Darwin, Alice Springs and Yuendumu.

The committee will also visit Mornington Island and Cairns in far north Queensland in early March.
