Drugs found in car after chase

A MAN who led police on a high-speed chase through the northern suburbs was caught with drugs in the car.

The 26-year-old man was seen by police driving a Toyota Camry station wagon on the Karama shops car park about 8-50pm on Thursday.

Police signaled him to stop as he turned right into Karma Crescent.

He accelerated away from police, reaching speeds of up to 120km/h in a 60kmm/h zone.

The pursuit ended in a cul-de-sac, with two police vehicles blocking his exit, but he then reversed into the side of one police vehicle.

Police arrested the driver and a search of the vehicle uncovered 63g of cannabis on a rear seat under a T-shirt.

He was charged with a number of offences and was bailed to appear in court.
