Drug bust toasted

NHULUNBUY police nabbed a passenger as he arrived on a flight from Cairns with drugs hidden in a jar of Vegemite.

Acting on a tip-off, police were waiting for the 24-year-old man as he stepped off the plane. It is believed the man was coming from Cairns to work at Nhulunbuy when his suitcase was searched.

Police found one LSD tablet and about 22g of amphetamine in a jar of Vegemite.

The man was charged with possessing a trafficable quantity of drugs and has been bailed to appear in Nhulunbuy court on January 31.
