256 hours for stealing
A WADEYE man has been sentenced to 256 hours of community service after pleading guilty to breaking and entering and stealing.
Simon Tcherna, 18, was charged with entering a building with intent, stealing, trespass and interfering with a vehicle after he and a co-offender broke into the Wadeye police station compound in June, 2005, and stole petrol from two police vehicles.
The Darwin Magistrate's Court heard the man also stole more than $1500 in tools from a workshop.
Magistrate John Lowndes also sentenced him to four 12-month good behaviour bonds.
