Cop blitz results borderline

NORTHERN Territory and West Australian police staged a weekend border blitz searching for drugs, visa breaches and checking roadworthiness of vehicles.

Officers from the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA), the Road Transport Authority and Quarantine also took part in the blitz.

Police said 263 vehicles were stopped on the Victoria Highway at the NT/WA border and 525 people were spoken to by police.

DIMIA reported no passport or visa violations.

Police reported:

THREE drug infringement notices were issued;

A TOTAL of 4.5g of cannabis was seized;

THREE traffic defect notices were issued;

FOUR traffic infringement notices were issued; and

SEVEN traffic cautions were issued.
