Ludicrous statements

I WRITE in response to Jenna (Letters, October 17).

There is nothing quite as sad as poor science and a pretentious (or pretender) acadamic except, perhaps, a stoned one.

While it irks me to respond to pro-marijuana faithful in print I must attack your ludicrous claims.

Ludicrous in including a 19-year-old quote concerning potency and toxicity overdose when the rank-and-file smokers of the day could only obtain "bush dope", not today's hydroponic rocket fuel.

Ludicrous in including a selective excerpt from a 2002 paper that went on to report no one ever dying of a marijuana overdose. Sins of omission would preclude any mention of suicide of drug psychosis sufferers, autocide of stoned drivers or murders committed by people so stoned that reality is long gone.

Wake up and smell the roaches, Jenna. Selectively edited psuedo-science does no favours. For heaven's sake: heroin is not toxic. Now tell me it's not lethal.

You've even missed the point that the original letter ("Gong the bong") was about - banning the sale of drug implements and paraphernalia.
