Shed bash accused sent to trial

FIVE men accused of abducting a man and a woman from a shed at Yarrawonga in May have been committed to stand trial.

Magistrate Dick Wallace continued bail for Matthew Bunch, 23, Mark Simpson, 28, and David Aiken, 27, but remanded Richard Kelly and Micheal Bunch, both 27, in custody.

The men are charged with deprivation of liberty, aggravated assault, making demands with menaces and causing grevious bodily harm after allegedly bashing Kurt Fisher, 27, with a baseball bat and hammer.

Michael Bunch's girlfriend Charmaine Gardiner, who gave evidence on Tuesday, told the court Fisher was an amphetamine dealer who was owed money by Michael Bunch.

She said Fisher had threatened her life, and that of her child, on several occasions.

The men will be arraigned in a Supreme Court hearing on October 24.
