Footballer awarded

TERRITORY footballer Xavier Clarke's work with indigenous youth has won him an AFL Community Leadership award.

Clarke, 21, was presented with the award on the AFL Footy Show on Thursday, a year after establishing the Indigenous Lighthouse Foundation with teammate Allan Murray.

He received $10,000 from the AFL Foundation and Tattersalls to put towards his charities.

Melbourne-based Indigenous Lighthouse Foundation seeks to provide support and direction for indigenous youth.

Some of its initiatives include empowering youths to make their own decisions and cutting the use of drugs and alcohol in the community.
