Acid in the face of human rights
“By finding me guilty instead of John Howard and George W. Bush, who are the real criminals, this court is throwing acid in the face of human rights.”
These are the words of drug law-reform and long-term human rights campaigner Stuart Highway who faces jail for ‘trespassing’ during an anti-John Howard rally last year.
Highway, who has been told to expect a custodial sentence, will be sentenced on Friday the 16th of September at 9.30am by Magistrate Lowndes in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court.
Environmental and social justice activist Justin Tutty will also be sentenced tomorrow.
A press conference will be held outside the Darwin Magistrate’s Court at 9am.
