Post-mortem after sniffer dies at Rock
A post-mortem examination will be carried out today on a 32-year-old man who dies after sniffing petrol at an Aboriginal community at the base of Uluru.
Detective Superintendent Don Fry said the man was seen sniffing petrol before he died in the 400-member community of Mutitjulu, where his body was found at one of the houses on Sunday morning.
It is believed he had been visiting the Central Australian community from Docker River.
The man's death comes just two weeks after the Northern Territor coroner visited the community to hold a special outdoor inquest into three petrol-sniffing deaths in the region.
Coroner Greg Cavenagh dramatically cut short the landmark hearing after a young petrol sniffer began inhaling fumes a few metres from the inquest.
