New police station

A new $4.8 million police station will be built in Darwin’s northern suburbs under a Labor Government.

It will be built on the site of the existing Casuarina Police Station.

Chief Minister Clare Martin said: “The current station is more than 30 years old and the modern NT Police Force has simply outgrown it.”

The new station could include safer storage for exhibits and firearms, new cells and interview rooms and recreation areas.

The funding will be made available in the 2006-7 Budget.
