Council fines candidate

The Network Against Prohibition candidate for Johnston, Gary Meyerhoff was fined $50 by Darwin City Council for failing to obtain a permit for a stall promoting drug law-reform in the Smith Street Mall today.

Mr Meyerhoff has elected to have the matter dealt with by the courts and will be summonsed.

He said: “Once again, the Darwin City Council are denying NAP their fundamental right to free speech.”
