Police arrest men over alleged abduction

Police have arrested two men over the alleged abduction of a man and woman from Darwin's rural area this week.

Police arrested the two men this morning in connection with the Thursday night abduction in which a man and woman were allegedly taken at gunpoint from a shed in Yarrawonga.

It is alleged the pair was forced into a car by four offenders, who later fled into scrubland when stopped by police.

The two men aged 22 and 27 are both from Palmerston.

Detectives expect to charge them later today.

Police say the incident could be drug-related and the couple may have known their alleged abductors.

The male victim remains in the Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Major Organised Crime detectives are still searching for another two men thought to be involved.
