Four to face court over Top End abduction

All four men suspected of abducting a couple from Darwin's rural area in the Northern Territory last week are now in custody, after another man was arrested and charged late yesterday.

The 27-year-old from Palmerston has been arrested over his involvement in the Thursday night incident in which a man and woman were allegedly forced into a car at gunpoint at Yarrawonga.

The couple was saved when police in the area on other business stopped the car.

The men ran into bushland and police set up roadblocks while they searched the area for any handguns or drugs thrown away as they fled.

The first two alleged offenders were arrested and charged on Saturday morning, followed by a third later that day.

All four men have now been charged with offences including deprivation of liberty, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and grievous bodily harm.

They are due to face court in Darwin on Tuesday.
