Drug man worked 70 hours

A man began taking amphetamine to keep going when he was working 70 hours a week, Darwin Magistrate's Court has heard.

Damien Michael Horn, 31, pleaded guilty to possessing a traffickable quantity (6.7g) of methylamphetamine.

Prosecutor Sergeant Gavin Kennedy said Horn admitted to owning and using the drug when police raided his home on January 19.

Horn told the court he had been taking amphetamine three to four times a week for about a year.

Defence lawyer Tom Berkeley said Horn now had less stressful work and no longer used amphetamine.

Magistrate Vince Luppino said he ruled out that Horn was supplying anyone.

Mr Luppino imposed a month's jail, suspending it immediately.
