Australia: Bikies jailed for drug trafficking

Two high-ranking members of the Rebels motorcycle gang have received jail terms of seven years for trafficking amphetamines.

John Dilena, 31, and Raymond Washer, 44, were found guilty by a jury of conspiring to bring almost two kilograms of amphetamines to Perth from Queensland in 2000.

The drugs were obtained through members of the Rebels in Brisbane and were being brought to Perth by car when they were discovered by police in New South Wales.

Judge John Wisby said the men had put their selfish interests above the harm caused in the community by the trafficking of illicit drugs.

He jailed them for seven years. Both men were made eligible for parole.
