Aboriginal men in Arnhem Land decrease cannabis use

The Northern Territory's Menzies School of Health says there has been a 10 per cent fall in the use of cannabis among Aboriginal men in eastern Arnhem Land.

Professor Alan Clough has been conducting surveys of cannabis use in the region's remote communities since the mid-1990s.

Professor Clough says a number of factors have led to the drop in cannabis use.

"I think people have made their own choice to abstain, perhaps in response to their own observations about their behaviours and perhaps reinforced by some education that's become available and think there's a lot of community and family resolve," he said.
