Conviction dismissed

A man has won an appeal in the Supreme Court against a conviction of hindering police.

Rob Inder-Smith was a member of a Darwin drug law reform group charged with a range of offences after a "Smoke-In" in October 2002.

Mr Inder-Smith was found guilty of hindering police and disorderly behaviour by Magistrate David Loadman.

But Justice David Angel this week dismissed the conviction.

Justice Angel said: "The tone of the way the magistrate addressed the appellant speaks volumes."
