Kava haul seized

About 300kg of kava plant has been seized by police in Arnhem Land. The kava, an intoxicating pepper plant grown in the South Pacific, was intercepted by Nhulunbuy police after arriving from Brisbane, police said.


The kava was found inside a shipping warehouse.


Nhulunbuy police Senior Sergeant Tony Fuller said the kava, which can be made into an intoxicating beverage, was found inside containers.
