Bail for drug factory duo
A couple charged over a Darwin amphetamine "factory" have been granted bail to attend a residential drug rehabilitation program.
Jaime Therese Pincott, 25, and Malcolm David Tschirpig, 23, were arrested last month after police found an amphetamine laboratory at Winnellie.
Police evacuated people from part of the industrial area because they feared an explosion.
Pincott was refused bail and Tschirpig did not apply for bail.
The court heard the pair was already on bail on charges of manufacturing amphetamine.
Each faced new charges of producing amphetamine and possessing a precursor to drug manufacture.
The two appeared in the "drug court" before Magistrate Vince Luppino last Friday.
Mr Luppino received reports saying each had been accepted for the Banyan House program.
Defence lawyer Alan Woodcock said both intended to plead guilty to the charges.
Mr Luppino granted bail ($2000 for Pincott and $3000 for Tschirpig) on condition they be released into the custody of Banyan House staff, attend the program there and comply with the rules.
They must report to the court clinician when required.
Mr Luppino adjourned all charges for a progress report on September 17.
