Conference Delegates to Look at Anti-Substance abuse programs

The Northern Territory police's drug and alcohol unit will take delegates from the Australasian Drug Strategy Conference to Hermannsburg, west of Alice Springs today, to inspect anti-substance abuse programs.

The unit's Scott Mitchell says delegates will be shown examples of how people in remote Aboriginal communities are tackling substance abuse.

He says they will see the achievements as well as the challenges facing the communities.

"We've tried to cover across the range of Indigenous communities," he said.

"Petrol sniffing, night patrol sort of stuff so that we can expose the delegates to a wide range of specifically Indigenous issues in rural and remote Australia."
