NT army boss takes drug test

The commander of the Army's Northern Command, Brigadier Ash Power, says no-one is immune from drug testing. A number of soldiers from Darwin's Robertson Barracks have been dismissed from the defence force this year after returning positive drug tests.

Brigadier Power says random drug testing is now a permanent routine and applies to everyone.

"Zero tolerance means zero tolerance," Brigadier Power said.

"You'd be pleased to know, in fact, this week I was tested myself as part of the random and targeted urine analysis test.

"I tested negative to all known drugs and, very pleasing for me, I found out I'm not pregnant."
