The Network Against Prohibition (NAP) is a group dedicated to promoting and protecting the health and human rights of illicit drug users around the globe as well as the rights of those living in communities in developing countries who rely on opium, coca, cannabis etc for their survival! NAP originally formed in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, however, an expansion is underway.

NAP Court Dates

NAP members will spend a lot of time in the Darwin Magistrate's Court during May. Remember, these are public hearings so you are welcome to come along and show your support to the NAP team.

On the 12th and 13th of May, NAP members will have a hearing for the events that occured during the 6th Community smoke-in for human rights on the 12th of October last year. NAP members are charged with a range of charges including assault police, criminal damage, stealing (a policeman's hat) and escaping lawful custody. Many of these offences carry stiff jail penalties. The action starts at 10am on both days so come along and show your support.

On the 15th and 16th of May, Gary, Rob and Roy will face round 2 of the hearing for the drug users' embassy. Last year on May 1, NAP members established the embassy outside the NT parliament to protest against the war on drugs. They face a charge of failing to comply with the instruction of an authorised officer of the legislative assembly. 10am kick-off

The big one starts on the 19th of May. Round 3 of the parliament invasion. Clare Martin, the Chief Minister of the NT will appear as a witness as well as a range of other members of parliament and the police commissioner. This hearing goes all week from the 19th to the 23rd so try and get there. 10am kick-off each day
