NAPNT in the Media

The Network Against Prohibition (NAP) is a group dedicated to promoting and protecting the health and human rights of illicit drug users around the globe as well as the rights of those living in communities in developing countries who rely on opium, coca, cannabis etc for their survival! NAP originally formed in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia, however, an expansion is underway.

Dope protest ends quietly

A potentially violent clash between police and pro-marijuana protesters failed to materialise during a “smoke-in” in Darwin on the weekend.

The Network Against Prohibition (NAP), led by pro-drugs campaigner Gary Meyerhoff, had planned a “smoke-in”, but were foiled by Darwin City Council who refused it a permit to use Raintree Park and turned off the power supply on Saturday.

Despite a heavy police presence, NAP members confined their activities to speeches on the abuse of civil rights in the Territory and called for an end to the “war against Iraq”. There were no arrests.

NAP’s last protest on October 12 ended in a running battle with officers and damage to police cars estimated at $10,000.
